Gerard Mapstone is one of Australia’s leading classical and flamenco guitarists. A powerfully evocative musician and composer, he has supported and worked with many Australian and international artists including:

His music is described as an evocative and deeply-moving experience, displaying immaculate technique pared with an emotional connection to music that is rarely heard.

Gerard Mapstone studied classical guitar with maestro Carlos Bonell, professor at the Royal College of Music in London, and Flamenco in Spain while living in Jerez de la Frontera. Through various collaborations his music has taken shape exploring the ethnic music of Spain, Eastern Europe, India and South America.

Over several International and nation wide tours Mapstone’s solo and group performances are fast becoming festival highlights with appearances at WOMAD (UK), Brighton Fringe Festival (UK), Woodford Folk Festival, National Folk Festival, Falls Fest, Blues Fest, Brisbane Powerhouse, Tanks Arts Centre, QPAC, Melbourne Arts Centre, Spiegeltent and much more.

Latcho Drom - India meets Spain
Drawing from the ancient music of India and the spirt of Spanish flamenco, the Latcho Drom music is a journey celebrating multiculturalism, art and life. Featuring Australian Guitarist Gerard Mapstone, renowned Tabla player Aman Kalyan and international singer Kavita Kalyan. This collective of Australian and international artists have participated with various Multicultural Arts groups and festivals including WOMAD, Woodford Folk Festival, Brisbane Multicultural Arts Centre, Tanks Arts Centre, Blues Fest, Falls Fest, Melbourne Arts Centre and much more.
